I didn’t feel too well this morning. Somehow my body didn’t find the right temperature. The weather is still beautiful but 10-15°C cooler than it has been the previous week. Seems like my body has grown more accustomed to the heat and now that it’s gone, it doesn’t know how to respond. So I was alternating between breaking a sweat and getting goose-bumps, a feeling that I usually associate with illness. Now as I’m writing this, I’m feeling much better. Maybe its because of the aspirin and some immune-boosting things that I gulped down after my run, maybe it just fixed itself. After the long run today, I did merely 2,88 km and I went very slowly stopping often for taking pictures. I didn’t look at my speed, just at my heart-rate occasionally because that’s the best way for me to know if something is seriously wrong. It wasn’t. I did about 600m bare feet again, it’s getting easier, though its super slow. But it’s all about technique and not about speed. Or so they say…
I alternate the course of my short runs slightly every time so that I don’t get bored. This time, I took a foot path down to the pond to get closer to the water.
I found some other benches with messages on them. There are a few on the main path around the pond. Mostly they are German play on words and cannot really be translated, but those can:
I usually don’t like it when people write on every surface they can get to, but those messages are something different than the usual insults or swear words. I like them.
Having not been able to mow our „lawn“ – it’s more of a meadow – this weekend, I felt inspired to do it today. And man, I simply love lawn-mowing. It’s outside, it’s a workout and I really like my lawn-mower. It’s not some sissy electric toy. It’s the real deal with a Kawasaki engine that makes some great noise. The weather was ideal. Sunny, dry, but not too hot. Maybe it was a stupid idea to shower first and then get the lawn-mower out, but I had to after my run.
I listened to The Running Podcast after lunch and I’m feeling very honored that the coach mentioned my blog. It’s really great fun. And the Coach is so enthusiastic about everything. He’s really an inspiration.
Ok, now I’ve got some work to do and then I’ll watch at least part of the soccer game this evening before going to the gym to work at my core-strength.
Life is good!
